Treatment Services

Dr. Salema offers a limited number of treatment services. The following treatment services are offered on a case-by-case basis:

• Sex Offender Treatment: Sex offender treatment services are available to male and female offenders who are seeking to gain insight into their offending behaviors and learn more adaptive means of fulfilling their needs. Fundamental to effective treatment services are a non-judgmental and safe therapeutic frame, within which clients can speak openly about their behaviors, thoughts, and urges. Dr. Salema’s sex offender treatment services incorporate elements of the strength-based Good Lives Model and Self-Regulation Model. Treatment planning is guided toward addressing pertinent dynamic risk factors while enhancing treatment outcomes through personal strengths and protective factors.
• Competency Restoration: Defendants who have been found incompetent to stand trial undergo restoration services in order for the legal process to continue. The goals of competency restoration are to enhance the defendant’s factual understanding of the legal proceedings, and to promote the defendant’s ability to collaborate with his or her attorney for their own defense.
