Evidence-based evaluation and assessment
Dr. Salema uses the most accurate assessment instruments to predict future behavior and risk assessment for potential repeat offenders.
Psychosexual Evaluation
Dr. Salema’s experience providing evaluation and treatment of sex offenders in a variety of settings has led to a strong understanding of the capabilities of treatment programs for SVP’s (Sexually Violent Predators).
Forensic Evaluation
Both clinical and forensic psychologists perform evaluative practices but their ethical obligations are different. While clinical psychology applies psychological treatment and analysis of human behavior, forensic psychology applies this knowledge to assist in making legal decisions.
Diagnostic and Risk Assessment
A risk assessment attempts to predict the likelihood that a person will engage in a specific heavier or set of behaviors. The assessment process includes a comprehensive clinical intervire, psychological testing and contact with collateral sources.
Competency Determination
The legal standard of competency to stand trial involves whether the defendant has sufficient present ability to: (1) consult with a lawyer with a reasonable degree of rational understanding, and (2) have a rational as well as factual understanding of the proceedings against him.
